Elcho Park Pet Hotel is proud to announce that we will soon be trading as ‘The Pets Hotel Country Club’. Over the next month and continuing for the balance of the year there will be a number of exciting changes happening at our facility at 170 Elcho Road Lara; beginning with the unveiling of our new trading name. ‘The Pets Hotel Country Club’ is still a family business with Lauren Hill (daughter of Alan and Yvonne Hill – co-owners of The Pets Hotel; our namesake) as CEO of the Geelong facility.
The Hill family opened The Pets Hotel in 2010 after years of first-hand experience running Elcho Park as well as innovative research and development both in Australia and overseas. Always looking to better themselves and the work they do, Elcho Park Pet Hotel will take on a new look and feel with the name ‘The Pets Hotel Country Club’ in order to provide the best service and care for our customers and their pets.
Also in the works is a complete refurbishment of the facility with updates to existing accommodation as well as a brand new reception and exclusive ‘Country Club’ accommodation to follow.
It will now be even easier to utilise both of our industry leading Pet Hotels! The Country Club is a convenient drop-off point for our Geelong customers who would like their pets to experience the luxury of The Pets Hotel. Similarly, The Pets Hotel makes it all too easy for our Melbourne city-dwellers to treat their pets to a country getaway. Our customers get the best of both worlds! Throughout all the changes our Mission remains the same:
Keep your ear to the ground for the launch of our extended web site this month. We will also be attending the Geelong Million Paws Walk so make sure you come and say hello to the team and check out our smart new uniform!
‘The Pets Hotel Country Club’ is a perfect destination for those pets who enjoy the great outdoors; grass, trees, birds and open spaces which are in abundance. We can’t wait to welcome you into our Club soon!

It was a funny day for our Doggy Day Care gang this month when our dear friend Dodo the Golden Retriever decided to add a mud-bath treatment to his day. Thankfully his new buddy Saxon was not as keen on getting muddy! Our Doggy Day Care sessions do run rain, hail or shine! We have a range of different play areas to keep all dogs happy throughout the winter months.
In addition to their action-packed days, all Doggy Day Care participants are invited to add a trip to the ‘spa’ onto their experience – and we can assure you that this will be for cleaning and pampering rather than a ‘mudding' session. To see videos and photos of our Doggy Day Care dogs and the pets staying with us at Elcho Park, make sure you ‘Like’ our Facebook Page and ‘Follow’ us on Instagram!
Elcho Homestead. Picture courtesy of On My Doorstep
The bluestone cottage situated at Elcho Park Pet Hotel is nearly 150 years old! It was originally built in 1867 as the gatehouse to the Elcho Homestead located on the hill on Bacchus Marsh Road and was part of a 4,000 acre estate.
While the whole estate has had many functions over the years, the property at 170 Elcho Road has operated as a boarding establishment for dogs since the 1960’s. When the Hill family purchased the property in 1996, they quickly renovated the dog accommodation and then added the cattery in 1999. We look forward to continuing to add to the rich history of this site with our next chapter.
Our staff at Elcho Park Pet Hotel have a huge love for all animals and many are involved in local rescue groups. As a business we often provide short-term boarding for rescue animals so that they can be assessed and placed with the correct foster home on their way to adoption.
Want to know more about what's involved with fostering a pet? Check out this great list of commonly asked questions from PetRescue.com.au - click here. Can you help out? If you are interested in becoming a foster carer, have a look through our local rescue groups who are always looking for more volunteers:
We have two lovely boys staying with us at the moment from the Adopt Me Inc. rescue; Bruce and Floyd. They are 4-year old and 5-year old Birman boys and are very beautiful creatures. Both are very affectionate and appreciate cuddles and pats.
They have gorgeous fur that does require brushing; however, with a little attention it maintains itself quite nicely. These two both love their food and aren’t fussy at all! They are up to date with vaccinations, flea treatments and worming treatments and are microchipped and desexed.
Please read through their full bio on the website as they have had some toileting issues in the past; however they have not have not shown any of this behaviour whilst with us. If you are prepared to put in a little time to introduce them into your home, you are bound to enjoy these two special boys.
They can both be viewed at Elcho Park Pet Hotel anytime during business hours. To view their full bio, click here.
