The Year So Far at The Pets Hotel Country Club!

This year has been super busy for all and has absolutely flown by!

For our regulars, you would have noticed the changes to our reception and administration buildings. We cannot wait until these works are completed and we are in our fantastic new building. In the mean-time, you can check out a sneak preview below.

We are now right in the middle of September/October school holidays and the spring weather has finally arrived. We hope those who are away have a wonderful time and the weather stays fine. For all those at home, we are still running our Doggy Daycare Program as usual which is great if you are planning on heading to the Royal Shows, or a day-trip into Melbourne. There is plenty for your pets to enjoy at The Pets Hotel Country Club these school holidays!

This warmer weather also brings with it fleas! It is a good reminder to ensure your pets are up to date with treatments. Check out some more handy hints below.

Christmas is less than 14 weeks away!

Just a reminder that Christmas is not too far away. We have limited availability in some of our accommodation types for the main dates so if your pets need accommodation with us over this period please give us a call sooner rather than later.

Also note that all booking deposits are now due! This is required to confirm your pets’ stay with us and without a deposit we cannot hold their room.

All our premium accommodation types are now sold out and with a Waiting List beginning to grow, please confirm your booking as soon as possible to ensure we can give others the opportunity to make arrangements for their pets.

To make a booking or to pay your deposit; call us on (03) 5282 1286 or to complete an online booking form, click here.

The Pets Hotel Country Club Redevelopments

As mentioned above, those who have recently visited us will have noticed that our renovations are well under way! This is a very exciting and long-awaited update to our reception, administration and operations areas.

The redevelopment will mean we have a brand new ‘spa’ area for your dogs, along with dedicated food preparation areas and other multi-purpose areas. The Pets Hotel Country Club staff will also be treated to a staff-room and dedicated administration office within the building.

The new building will be constructed to marry-in with the heritage feel of the property and match the existing cattery. This is just stage-one of the many plans we have in place for this wonderful facility to continue to ensure The Pets Hotel and The Pets Hotel Country Club continue to provide superior service options for your pets’ needs.

Please note; while we are undergoing renovations part of our facility is an active work-site. Therefore, we are unable to take any clients through for facility tours until works have been completed. We thank you for your patience during this time and look forward to unveiling the completed works in the near future.

V.I.P. Spotlight!

Here is one of our regulars, Miss Daisy the boxer enjoying her Doggy Daycare play at The Pets Hotel Country Club! She is such a happy girl and loves to run all day. She basically drags her Mum in each morning and then falls asleep before she even gets home.

The Pets Hotel Country Club Team has been out and about quite a bit this year.

You may have caught us at the R.S.P.C.A Geelong Million Paws Walk or more recently at the Wyndham City Council Pet Expo.

Both events were a wonderful day out and we loved meeting new faces as well as seeing our old favourites.

Why Spring Means Fleas!?

As the weather warms up and the days get longer, it won't only be us who will be celebrating! The cheeky flea will be out and about and even though they can cause problems all year round, it is during spring and summer that we see them come out in their forces.

Flea eggs like to sit dormant through the colder winter months and it only takes a few warm and sunny days for them to start celebrating and the eggs to begin hatching.itchy-dog-scratching

It's always best to be on the front foot when it comes to prevention. The aim is to kill the eggs before they hatch and you can do this by making sure your pet is up to date with top quality flea control.

When purchasing a flea product, ensure it treats fleas at all stages of their life cycle. This will be the most effective and cost efficient way for your pets to remain flea free for the whole year!

It only takes one flea bite for your pet to start feeling pretty itchy and uncomfortable. If left untreated, constant scratching can lead to broken skin which could lead to infections and the need for antibiotics. This is no fun for your pet or your wallet!

If you see fleas on your pets; as well as treating them, don’t forget to also wash all their bedding at, at least 60 degrees to help prevent re-infestation. If your pets are suffering with chronic flea problems it may be a good idea to have a look around your backyard. Fleas love sand and sandy-soil to nest in, so limiting your pets access to these types of areas can also help get on top of things.

September is the perfect month to get back into the routine of parasite control that may have been slipping over the winter months. Please ensure your pets are up to date with all their flea and worming treatments before their holidays.

The Pets Hotel Country Club have a range of top quality products which are available for purchase if your pets are due during their holiday with us. All dogs also all receive a bath in quality shampoos and Fido’s™ Flea Rinse before they go home to ensure they are in tip-top condition. Additionally, any pet that presents with flea-dirt or live fleas is immediately treated with a parasite control product.

Ask our staff if you would like to know any more helpful hints or about our Holiday Services available for your pets.

  • Thank you so much to the staff at Elcho Park Pet Hotel! This was the first time leaving our Mac for more than a night and I was so worried as to how he'd go! Staff were very understanding with this worried mum ringing to check on her puppy! He's come home so relaxed and happy and just want some cuddle time! Highly recommend to anyone needing to leave their pets! Thank you all from the De Marchi's and Mac!

  • (5 stars) We have 2 high maintenance rescue dogs that have been institutionalised to stay in our local kennels. Unfortunately they were closed over a period recently and we needed to look elsewhere. Elcho Park was recommended to us by our local kennels and we travelled down from Ballan to do a trial. Jocelyn was exceptional and talked us through a long list of obviously well established and used procedures they have in place for difficult to handle dogs. We then subsequently met Ellen and Marnie at check in and check out who were equally knowledgeable, relaxed with handling the boys and encouraging of us keeping in touch to see how the boys progressed. We rang every day!!! Our littlest initially refused to eat which meant he wasn't getting some medication. The girls were extremely creative about getting him comfortable with lots of different snacks, food choices, hiding v crushing up etc. They also went to great lengths to spend time at the pens so he would be more trusting and relaxed. Perseverance paid off and for that we are so grateful. They also came home relaxed, happy and very vocal ... sadly no bark issues here!!! I will agree with others that the pens were a little on the smelly side and the facility does look quite tired and in need of a little love. That said the pens we had the boys in were spotlessly clean and there was lots of clean fresh water when we arrived unannounced to pick them up just after 8:30am Tuesday. All I can say is the team there really is amazing, the efforts they went to working with us was beyond impressive and their commitment to the animals in their care unquestionable. 5 stars from us ☺
